Gridbeam floor table

I finally finished my first gridbeam project—a floor table to work sitting on the floor. I made the gridbeam myself starting from 1.5″×1.5″ cross-section timber from B&Q. Then, I slid in a reclaimed scaffold board panel from The Scaff Shop. For fastening, I used joint connector nuts and bolts from Orbital Fasteners. And, I finished off all the wood with linseed oil. In the future, I might put in some under-table heating for the winter. Or, perhaps a simple duvet will do. We shall see.
I had to drill a total of 192 holes for this project, and I'm not looking forward to doing it again! It would be good if I could simply buy gridbeam on the market. But, that doesn't seem to be an option, at least in the UK. Perhaps I'll look into jigs or an automated setup like the grid bot.
I see great environmental and empowerment potential in modular hardware. Here's the visionary article from the Low Tech Magazine that got me started down this road.
